Severe Weather Shelter is Love Overwhelming’s way of bringing churches, organizations, businesses, and neighbors together so people have a safe place indoors in severe weather.

Longview, Washington is our current example. It is one community’s work in progress.
Churches, community organizations, businesses and neighbors bring different views and strengths. A shared commitment to safety is a place to begin.
In Longview, Love Overwhelming is inviting the City and the wider community to build an ongoing severe-weather response: identify shelter spaces, sustain funding, and share responsibility for neighbors’ safety. Alternate host spaces are needed now.
It shows the practical plan, the people leading it, the host needs, and how to take part. Current details, including the status of any partnership, are kept up to date there.
This is one community’s work in progress. It is not a promise of the same arrangement elsewhere.
People seeking safety deserve dignity, clear expectations, and a voice in their next steps. Partners need clear roles and a plan they can follow through on.
Start with people’s needs and the resources already available.
Agree on roles so everyone knows what they can count on.
Share responsibility and keep the work going after the first season.
These are goals, not claims of measured results.
Churches and organizations with suitable space can help explore workable options. If you want to talk about building a response in your community, start with a conversation.
